So, LECOM has 2 campuses, one in Lake Erie (the one I interviewed at and am awaiting their decision), and Bradenton, Florida. They are owned by one school, but technically 2 schools and have different application processes.
As you know, I haven't heard from LECOM-Erie since I mailed in my scores (Back on March 7th). Since LECOM-Bradenton hasn't made a decision on me either, I decided to e-mail them my new scores for kicks and giggles. That was two days ago. I checked the portal online and they already made a decision on me and it's in the mail, I'll know in about 30 days. I never even interviewed at this school so there's no way I'm accepted, but it's just super funny that a campus could get my scores and evaluate my application in one day, while the campus that ASKED me for new scores and put my application on hold won't even confirm that they received them.
How funny is that?!

So, I'm back to school for my last semester at Drew University!
And, like always, I planned to be back early, and ended up coming back late, and then finished unpacking even later, and sat around doing nothing and being bored for 2 hours...yeah....
but hopefully fun will ensue tomorrow! Except I have to buy books...blah...
Let's hope for a good semester! Last semester went well, except for biochem...but that's a whole 'nother story! This semester, I plan on having a lot more free time, and thus maybe I can have a new hobby...if you have any ideas, please send them my way!
Possible new hobbies:
1. running/working out
2. play more video games
3. read more (as in vampire books, or shakespeare)
4. watch movies that I've never seen
5. work more (yeah right!)
6. get into baking/cake decorating
7. look into pole dancing classes (Lindsay?)
8. choreograph
9. start a graphic novel
10. read through my endocrinology text book from last semester

Wowzers, I haven't updated in quite a while!
I move back to school on the 19th of August (like, 2 weeks! yikes!). And I can't help but think how lazy I've been this summer. Granted, I did work doubletime at work, since one of my co-workers got into a very bad car accident with an 18 wheeler, so I was covering her shifts. But there's still a lot of stuff I wanted to do this summer and didn't.
I just got back from camping/LBI. Both of which were very fun. I began playing Risk a lot, so I'm gonna have to bring it to school and make everyone play with me!
I recieved a bunch of secondary/supplementary applications from medical schools, which is supper exciting...but super expensive, too. It's kinda annoying that you have to apply to school twice, only to score an interview, and then you get the final news...oh well...
My parents had it crazy hard this summer. Both of them lost their jobs in the same week. Luckily my Dad found something somewhat-temporary, but pays a lot more than he was making. My mom on the otherhand isn't so lucky. She's been really down lately. I secretly sent them flowers in the mail with a little note I wrote that my mom loves. She still doesn't know that I sent it.
Well, I'm going out to dinner with the Family (my dad couldn't come down the shore due to work, so we're going out tonight all together).

Hey hey!
So, I started my break going to VA to see a certain Mr. Matthew. Then we, and 4 of his friends, went to West Virginia for a day trip to a "slots and races" casino! I lost 3 dolla dolla bills, ya'll...we played only the penny slots! Then I saw 2 horse races (not that exciting!). Then we ate at an applebees (grizzlebees, in Karen terms)...which toke well over an hour to serve us our food, so we all got free dessert (and each dessert was over 5 dollars!!!).
I basically did nothing all week, which sucks. Me and my friend Julie were talking that every time we come home, we can't sleep till, like 3am and then we wake up FREAKISHLY late. This happens EVERY TIME we come home. It really sucks, because half the day is lost. But we just end up staying out late....it's a vicious cycle.
My computer got a Smitfraud-c.core service trojan virus (wtf does that mean?!). F-prot and Spybot were good for nothing with it, so I did research on it online and tried to un-install it. Well, I ended up un-installing Novell Client...so now I can't even log into my computer! Hooray! ... I tried calling CNS and planned to go there today to drop it off, but the Helpdesk is closed all break! They're open everyother break! Why not this one?!
Tomorrow's a busy day for me. I'm getting a hair cut (I think I want to go short...but not too short, like it was in highschool...which you guys haven't seen). Then, I'm meeting with a DO at the hospital for lunch (He wants to talk to me about med school, but I have no idea what he's gonna say...wierd. But he's a hospitalist, and a cardiologist, I think, so he's basically exactly what I want to be when I grow up! He's young and just graduated NYCOM 3 years ago, so hopefully he still has connections there ;)
Also, Friday, Ann and Karen and I are suppose to make some Pisanke! Since I don't have my computer (I'm using my Mac...which doesn't have a right-click button, and that annoys me to the nth degree), I cannot sign on AIM to discuss this. Like I said, guys, I'm doing Lunch with this doctor (unfortunatly I have to work off of his schedule). So, you wanna do late afternoon?
I then work this weekend (6-2) and then Sunday is my brother's birthday, so we're going to Peterson's (aka 5 points) in Union...they have the BEST hot dogs ever!
Well, gotta work on my Med school apps...they're do next month! It's weird how I have to apply Junior year, then I find out next year if I even got in, only to go there the following fall! It's redic!
Med school stuff (it's okay if you don't want to read this): :D
I decided to apply to all (or almost all) DO schools in the county. There's only about 28 or so (there's a bagillion more MD schools. So, competition for MD may be known for being horrible, DO school is just as hard because there's about 1/3 as many schools (I can only imagine what the Vet poeple go through!)). My mom doesn't want me applying to "the bowels of mississippi" of any other southern/midwestern place because "they won't take to kindly to gay people." I whole-heartedly agreed.
There's about 5 schools in the area that are my top pick. First is probably UMDNJ (college of osteopathic medicine). This is in South Jersey. My main reason for wanting to go here is because it is known for being one of the best Med schools in the country (but probably not as good as Harvard or Yale or whatever). Also, the doctor I did my research with and followed a lot went there, and I guess you can say he's kind of like my mentor. Also, it's in Jersey and I would really prefer to practice in Jersey (despite the crazy mal-practice insureance).
MY second choice would be Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harlem. I would like to go here because, mainly, it's in New York! It's across from the famous Apollo Theatre, so I can see Monique every night! I always wanted to live in NY, but obviously not my entire life. It would be a way of my living in NY for between 2-4 years (depending on where I intern), which would be perfect! also, Touro is a jewish school (closed on Saturudays, and follows the jewish calender), and it's also extremely culturally diverse. You practice with a lot of minorities too. This is not only important for being a more well rounded person (especially because I grew up in a all-white town, and went to a predominetly white college), but also will expose to me different cultures and help me address them medically, which is incredibly important. PLus, training in Harlem will make sure I see the worst of the worst.
The next choice would be New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM). This is where that doctor I'm meeting on Friday went, and also where I went to the open house 2 months ago (Where I drove through Manhattan for the first time ever!). This school looked just like a regular college (because it's located on a college campus). It's out on staten island, so it's still pretty close, which is good. Their standards for picking students are very high (or so it sounded at the open house), but the students there were so friendly! I think I would fit in well at that school - I just got that feeling (kind of like I got at Drew).
The next would probably be Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. It's in Philly (duh), so it's still pretty close to home. I haven't done a lot of research on this school, but it's ranked up there because of distance to Jersey (Since I won't have much say in where I go, and more on who takes me, I rank mainly by distance).
The next would be New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. This school is located in Maine and is right at the shore line. The school even has a private island as part of it! I requested to brochure and it's really pretty and I could see myself going there. My brother is doing his rotations at St. Mike's (I think...some "M" name) for his PA and the interns he works with are all from this school. So, I could do my rotations near home! He got me one of there cards so I can e-mail him questions and stuff about the school. This school is the only one, so far, that requires biochem....and that's the main reason I'm taking it next year.
Next there is Lake Eerie College of Osteopathic Medicine in PA. I havn't doen research here yet. But it's still ranked up there for me because it's still in the North East!
There are more schools I'm looked harder into that aren't in the area (2 in Florida, 2 in California, and some by the great lakes, Virginia, and in "gay-friendly" states). I'm getting super excited about applying! I can potentially find out if I'm accepted as early as August (and as late January... sometimes even later if people defer or drop out)!
I know my MCAT scores aren't all that high (there lowish/average for DO school), and my GPA isn't as high as it should be (Thanks a lot, physics). But my A- in Orgo (Thanks Rosan!) should help me, as long as my work experience! I do have a lot of field work in Medicine (working in a hospital, being an EMT, starting a second job there, doing research with a doctor, shadowing multiple doctors (even once in middle school!), having published research already, and probably again in the future (once I finish the stats on the hospital one)). So, my field research is fantastic, and my letters ( from a DO, a high ranked nurse (I don't know her exact title), Dr. Knowles, Dr. Mckittrick, and maybe even a second DO) are (hopfully) amazing (I can't read them...it's some stupid rule thing). So, without the MCAT and the okay GPA, I'm good to go! The only problem is that the MCAT/GPA is used to weed out student the first round of applicants, then they go back to them later. That's why I have to apply super early!
Okay, enough writing, I gotta go do stuff.

Hey guyses!
So, I joined this website called Bzzagent.com where you take surveys and stuff and you get chosen to try out new things for free! Matt told me about, as he does it. He got a to try Listerine Whitening Strips (for free), and he got a $300 dollar electric toothbrush (for free!), and now he's getting organic yogurt (for free!). The whole point is that they give us, "Agents", free things so we talk about them with people, kinda like endorsing their products.
Anyway, I signed up and got my first campaign yesterday! It's a free membership to this website called The Trackshack.com. It's a website kinda like purevolume.com, but you post songs/tracks/cd's on (like, bands do it and stuff), and you can, like, sell them (80% profit is yours to keep!). I'm thinking I'm going to put my bands stuff on their, since we get a lot of plays off of purevolume.com and out myspace account. (Ann, you should talk it over with So Buttons!). You can also remix your tracks (like vocals, or just the drums, or whatever), and buy tracks from other bands. It' a great place for new independent artists!
Anyhoo, I'm bringing this up here because I would really like to hear comments from you guys. I'm suppose to report any endorsements that I do, and the more I do, the more points I get to trade in for stupid stuff (like a water bottle, or a yoga mat, or a rice cooker!...they used to have ipods and stuff, but they ran out for now, haha). So, please comment on the things I endorse - even if you're not intereted! It'll really mean a lot to me! Tell me what you think of the Trackshack.com!
K-thanks! Bubyes!

Greetings!
This weekend, I got a digital voice recorder (for speech reasons), but also, now we can go ghost hunting and record EVPs! I don't know if any of you would be interesting in doing that, but I would LOVE to.
This weekend, my Matthew is coming! He may be up late late Friday (like, I'm talking about midnight or after). Then, Saturday, we're going back to our hometown to do family stuff (My uncle is getting a training room named after him at Roselle Catholic). But we should be back Saturday night! Then, Sunday, we're celebrating valentine's early (since I won't see him till after), as well as out 8 month anniversary (the 16th!), we're going to the Garlic Rose (you know, there's a garlic rose by my house, it's in Cranford, and I've never been)! Then, we're going to see the Spice Girls! And because it free transit week, we probs don't have to pay for tickets on the train! I'm super excited!
I really need to go to the Hospital in my free time to finish up my research. I've got, like, 65 charts left to read. And, I may even have to go through the paper ones, from before they went digital. If I have to do that, I'll suck like no other! But we'll see.

facilities rocks the his-ouse!
To start, last semester, the outlets in the bathrooms didn't work, so I put in a work order and they fixed it the very next day!
Then, Yesterday, I put in a request that there is no hot water in the showers (and hasn't been all year). Today I find out they are turning off the hot water tomorrow for 4 hours...to fix the hot water! Yay!!!!! I am sooooo pleased!

My classes:
Cell and Molecular Neurobiology:
I was really excited about taking this class! After taking Systems, I feel like this would be a easy class! Plus, Dr. Knowles is teaching him and I like his style of teaching, so this should be a good one. So far, I don't really like the people in the class, though. They're a bunch of Sophomores (with the exceptions of some of the people from my Systems class). These kids don't know the first thing there is to know about Neuro! Granted, this probably is their first Neuro class, but you learn about the basics in regular Cell/Molecular Bio, Anatomy/Physiology, BioPsychology, end even the crude basics in any Psych class! You can't possibly tell me that this class is the first one these kids had at Drew.
(one student, who didn't know how to use a microscope in lab, asked a question today referring to the syllabis. Instead of reading chapter 2 for class, he read chapters 1 AND 2, and he wanted to know if that was okay or not...yeah...)
Evolution and Human Behavior:
This is my first Anthropology class, and it's an upper level one! I am really surprised that all the people in the class, though, are bio/neuro majors. On the first day, he took a survey where we all wrote A,B, or C on a note card and handed it in (A = you accept evolution, B = you believe in some evolution with a divine creator, C = you reject everything about evoltion). The whole class had A's (there's 8 of us). The professor said that usually B's are the most common, then C's and A's are last. He was really really taken aback with all the A's. He's Dr. Sutton, or Wesley, as he goes by. He's an older man, but I think he just looks older than he actually is. He wears his pants too high and they're too short for him too, and he wears sneakers with his dress pants, but he's still one of those super cute professors! So far, I think I like this class the best.
Latin II:
This is exactly like last semesters (same teacher). We have homework all the time and a quiz every day. Same 'ol same 'ol.
Medical and Veterinary Parasitology:
I was excited for this class, since I really liked the speach the professor gave when Karen and I were inducted in Try Beta. But, I forgot exactly how old he is. Thus, he's style of teaching is very old fashion. But, on the first lecture, he showed us gross pictures (a prolapsed rectum, and a ball of roundworms being ejected from an anus!). But, for a class only worth 2 credits, I have the most work. I have to write a 2 page paper every other time we meet (and do the research for the paper), give 2 5-6 minutes presentations, and a final 8-10 page research paper (on topic /parasite of choice).
So, That's my semester! I only need to take Biopsychology (which, I am told by fellow neuro students that it's like Systems neuro, but dumbed way way way down)and my capstone course and I finish my major! As for my breadth requirements, I just need to an art class and a music class! Plus my language in context class. I only need 5 more classes to graduate (not including this semester).
Classes I want to take:
Music 1 or 3: Imagination and Technique or Enjoyment of music
Art 3: 3-Dimensional Design (you don't need a pre-req!)
Eng 107: Creative Writing Workshop/ Short Fiction
Neuro 124, 144 or 192: Capstones!
Psyc 19: Biological Psychology (with lab? It's optional)
Chem 117: Biochemistry I (with lab, Chem118)
Chem 119: Biochemistry II (I may take this...I don't know)
Bio 134: Endocrinology
C l25: Classical Mythology (Lindsay warned me about the teacher, but I need it to graduate)

It's Christmas eve!
I should be wrapping gifts, but I am in no mood to do so. I usually have them all wrapped weeks in advanced, but, I don't know, this year is different. Last year I wasn't ready for christmas to happen, but this year, I am approximately 10 times unprepared to deal with it.I'm excited for it, and I've had everyone's gifts and stuff, so technically I'm ready for it, but I'm not ready to wake up and open presents.
Since I've been home from school, I've been having irregular sleeping patterns. Mostly that I can't fall asleep, and when I do, it's around 3am. I end up waking up around noon or a little before (talk about a wasted morning!).
I came back from my skiing vacation yesterday. My brother Ryan, me, my boy Matt, Glackin, Pfiefer, Cassie, Mani, Bocco, and Zizz went skiing htis weekend. Well, technically, Ryan, Zizz, and Pfeif went snowboarding, Mani went skiing, and the rest of us decided to take it easy and went tubing instead. Needless to say, it was a blast. The house we stayed in was nice (it had this amazing king size beds withe mattresses that felt like heaven, and there was a hot tube (the first night, it overflowed and flooded the house a little, but apparently it always happens there, haha. we had secret santa ($25 dollar limit) and Cassie got me dark chocolate Lindt chocolate truffles (yum!)and the movie Interview with a Vampire (which we gotta watch at school!).
I've seen Matt pretty much everyday since I came home. It's probably been the best part of my vacation so far. Unfortunately, he has to go back to school Jan 5th or 6th to go back to student teaching, but I'm going to visit him for 4 or 5 days a few weeks after he leaves. Yay! He makes me really happy!
In the mean time, I haven't been working too much this this break because I'm suppose to be trained as a patient care technician in the Mead Pavilion, and start my research with Dr. Ricculli on Restenosis. I'm super excited! I really really hope it gets published!
Also, I'm super excited about my lab write up me and my group did (with Beth and Corey). Dr. M asked us she can have an electronic copy so she can use it as an example for future classes, because it was "outstanding!" coming from her, that's frikkin' ridiculous!
Alright, I better start wrapping.
Merry Christmas!
love,
Colin

So, Miss Lindsay showed me how to add her, and so I figured I'd post an entry!
Also because I haven't posted in soooo long!
...and maybe because I'm bored of studying and don't know what to do until Matt gets here!
Tomorrow's my first final! I'm pretty excited for it! I may not be ready for it, but it's the most ready I've ever been for a test in this class since it started, even though I studies the least for it! In this class, Systems Neurobiology, we had a final independent research experiment (which took a month, but, for those of you who know me, you know I've spend a good 6 hours a day at some points doing it), a final paper for that experiment (it ended up being about 12 pages, but it's not done yet), a presentation on that paper/experiment, a final paper for the class (only 2-3 pages though...mine's 2, haha), and a final exam (which is tomorrow at 9am!). So, I'm pretty excited to get this class out of the way! Hooray! (even though I still gotta finish that lab write up).
Matt's coming tonight! Woopie!!!
He's only staying until lunch time tomorrow, but that's okay, I have a Latin exam to study for anyways. Plus I want to see him anyway!
Sayed and his friends are planning on watching a movie tonight, which will go late. He asked me if it was okay, which I of course said yes. But I kinda wish they weren't going to, as I have to wake up supa-early for my exammy poo. So I want to go to bed early.
But, oh well, what can you do.

Back to school…
Well, not really. Back to OC training!
I moved into my room today and was taken aback by its size…I remembered it being small, but was narrower than I expected. But I was extremely pleased to see little alcoves for my dresser and closet! Also, I packed not that many clothes because I knew I would have no place to put them, and now I totally have, like, 6 empty drawers! Guess I gotta go back home for some more! Haha…But, no, it’ll come in handy for the winter when my winter jackets take up my closet space and sweaters need a home.
Oh, random note, my bed is nailed to the floor…
I got everything organized and I am really in love with my room! Granted, I need to put something on the walls, they’re too bare!
I also forgot some important things that my mommy will be bringing to me come Monday morning.
1. My hamper (No place for dirty clothes!)
2. Common reading book (How can I talk to the freshman about it if I don’t have it!...nor even came close to finishing it…)
I’m sure there’ll be more to come..
It’s hot, but I have three fans! (well, one’s not working too well, so I might as well take it down). I also got a bookshelf form ikea (with the wonderful Ania!) and it looks marvelous in my room! Finally, a place to put my textbooks, instead of on the floor.
Oh, P.S. My phones plugged in! Too bad we now have different extenstions.
I am sooo pleased with my room! Please come by to see it (and me!). I’m sure I’ll be lonely on this side of campus all by my self!
Hurray!
Oh, Katie, the webcam does work. Set yours up so we can chatty chat chat-chat!

Two days ago was my picnic!
Ann came (with fruit salad and cupcakes – which my brother wants to know the recipe), Marla and her fiancé Maury (it’s been forever since I’ve seen her), Melissa (surprise! She wasn’t sure if she could come, but she did!), Kate M (wild style), Katie F and Brian (who came via Katie M, and didn’t have bathing suits so they swam in regular people clothes), and Karen (and her france-ian dress with a million buttons).
Among the other guests were my brother Ryan (where people didn’t know we were related, which was refreshing after hearing that we look like twins are entire life), Matt (my boyfriend – who enjoyed everyone immensely!), and Pfeif and Elizabeth (who came later when everyone was leaving).
Hurray for everyone who came! I hope everyone had a blast – cause I sure did!
As for recent news, my pops is getting surgery on his bum knee. He tore a tendon in it years ago and chose not to get surgery to save money during some hard times, but never went back because it felt fine. Now that he has quit smoking and eating healthier, he decided to start running. Well, his knee started acting up again and, alas, he has a fractured knee! His (stupid) doctor didn’t prescribe him any pain medication despite his BROKEN bone, and just told him to keep off it – how is he suppose to do that when he commutes to New York for work?! But, he’s finally getting the surgery he always needed on Tuesday, so he’ll be out of work for about a week.
The following is mushy stuffs – be warned!

Hey guys!
I haven’t written in a while…okay, in, like, forever…so let me give you an update!
Since school ended, I’ve been taking an MCAT prep course at Setan Hall where I have different classes everyday (and different teachers). The subjects are General Chem, Organic chem, physics, bio, and verbal reasoning/writing sample. So, basically, it’s a complete review of this past year at school!
I also decided that if I don’t improve my GPA (and at least do average on the MCATs…I’m a terrible standardized test taker), then I’m going to take a year off after college to build my resume (actually, med schools prefer a year after senior year for research, so it’ll work to my advantage). I want to go to a D.O. school (rather than M.D.) partly because my chances at getting in are better, and also because then I’d be a doctor of osteopathy (which is somewhat holistic), which always fascinated me.
It’s funny because people in my MCAT class were talking and saying they rather go to an M.D. school outside the US then go to D.O. school. I had to laugh because they obviously don’t know anything about D.O’s. They are basically M.D.’s and can go into whatever field (surgery, pediatrics, nuclear, cardiology), but they’re known basically for family practice (D.O.’s treat the patient, not the disease).
Anywhoo, I have a boyfriend (hee hee). It’s only my third boyfriend and already I feel like I know him ten times more than the last two. Well, I did know Matt (my bf) since, like, forever. He’s actually kind of my brother’s best friend…yeah…I know, it seems weird and like things should be awkward...but surprisingly, things haven’t been better. Apparently he had a crush on me since January (Pfeif actually told me it was longer than that). Like, it’s like he’s everything I was looking for. To start, he’s someone who I’ve known for a long time and am comfortable with. He’s someone I can talk to. My parents like him. And he actually pays for me sometimes! (one of my last boyfriend always made me pay and actually owes me a lot of money and has yet to pay me back…despite my asking for, what, a year now?). I never knew how good it feels to like someone who actually honestly likes you back.
Okay, sorry for getting so sappy. I just haven’t had a great pat year and it makes me so happy to see things looking up.
I can’t wait to see everyone for my pool party!

I stole this from Karen...
1. You are not alone. You are walking in the woods. With who?
Wow…not a single person came to mind.
2. You are walking in the woods. You see an animal. What kind?
Salimander...it's red and black.
3. What interaction takes place between you and the animal?
I watch it bury itself under leaves.
4. You walk deeper in the woods. You enter a clearing and before you is your dream house, what does it look like?
An old Victorian manor. It is dark and definitely needs a lot of work to it.
5. Is your dream house surrounded by a fence?
Yes. An iron fence with a gate (that is falling off it’s hinges).
6. You enter the house. You walk in to the dining room and see the dining room table what do u see on and around it?
A large wooden rectangular table sitting before a fireplace (with two red candles on the mantel). There is a tattered, narrow red cloth that runs the length of the table and drapes off of it. There is a large wide glass vase in the center. There are old pieces of paper scattered around the table. There is old pot puree at the bottom, purple in color, and what seems to dried flower stems still in the vase. The floor is littered with dried leaves. There are no chairs.
7. You exit the house and a cup is on the ground, what kind is it?
A chipped coffee mug made of porcelain (the handle is chipped). It is cream in color and is very modern in style. A little dirty from the moistened soil.
8. What do you do with the cup?
Pick it up and inspect it thoroughly. I then place it away from the walkway, closer to the front steps, so as not to get trampled on.
9. You walk to the edge of the property where you find yourself by a body of water. What is it?
A small shore. It reminds me of a bay. There is a small stretch of white sand that leads to calm water with irregular waves.
10. How will you cross the water?
I will not cross the water, as there is no land in site. Instead I stand on the edge and gaze out over it.

Karen and I are basically idealized in the chemistry laboratory.
